Low Tide in Venice

Low Tide in Venice

People no longer live on the "ground" floor in Venice. Several times a year a low pressure storm and high tides combine to flood the streets and lower floors. The salt water also corrodes paint and saturates walls. The City is vibrant and resilient, dealing with the vagaries of the water stoically. It remains a remarkable place to visit!
