The fish market in Venice closes at noon. 4 travellers were standing on a small bridge with their back to the market, looking over the Grand Canal, when a gull shot over their heads so close that they could feel the wind from its wings. Seconds later a second flew over just as close as the first, and seconds later a third. Wondering if there could possibly be a fourth, i spun around, my camera ready, and captured this bird, as startled as I was. I tell people who ask that I took 2.5 hours to properly backlight my subject. Nobody believes me, and with good reason. Sometimes you get lucky!
